Pros:
-720p zoomable video! Primary reason for anyone to buy this camera.
-Image quality excellent.
-Fits well in the hand.
-Awesome screen.
-One of the fastest non-SLR burst shooters out there. 3fps great for action.
-60sec "starry sky" exposure mode is fun to play with and gives great results.
Cons:
-Battery life a little short. Buy an extra battery.
-Tripod screw mount is plastic.
-Due to the somewhat "dumb" compression, the video files in 720p are GIANT. 2GB for 9 minutes.
Other:
-I seriously considered buying a Canon G10 instead. But the video capabilities and zoom of this camera made me buy it. Panasonic is clearly listening to their customers and making a camera that is fun and easy to use, not just churning out more of the same.

Okay, here's the deal:
I have seen good to great comments and bad to horrible comments about this camera and for what I have seen personally, the good outweighs the bad.
I have had mine for a week and I got it based on the advice from a family member that had his for over a year. So far no problems for either of us.
It appears as if the negative comments stem from how bad the pictures turn out.
This is a compact camera for family home and vacation use. If you expect picture quality that will get you a Pulitzer Prize for Time Magazine, you will be let down.
Yes, this is a great camera for its price and it's great at what it does but don't expect those professional photos. That's not what this is used for.
You can't get a better camera at this price in any store. The features are beyond acceptable from the zoom function to the video function.
However, it isn't all good!
The audio is very poor. The microphone and the speaker are not at the level the rest of the camera is at. Also, the battery dies very quickly
Hey, my camera may bite the dust in an hour (that's life) but if you can get one of these and it stays workable (and there's no reason why it wouldn't) you got yourself a winner!

I had been looking at the Lumix cameras for some time. I've had numerous digital cameras some large full function and some smaller with limited features. I wanted the portability of a compact camera with a long optical zoom, large display and the other features that make taking great pictures easy... this little guy has them all...and Amazon had the best price I had found.
