I love the Panasonic set of KX-TG5200M expandable phones. I have a set of 4 that includes the message machine. They work outside for quite a distance... Maybe 50' ? They are clear, and a great size (not the teeny tiny kind) I had the first 3 for a few years, and bought the last expandable in January 2007, & I hope mine keep going for years, as i really like them.Customer Review: Expandable Phones are Great!

We have four of these units in our house, and they work like a charm. Never any interference, and the musical ringer is fun. We love them, but recommend that you keep one corded phone in your home. These won't work in a power failure.Customer Review: Review of Panasonic KX-TG520M Handset

This product is excellent. I am able to receive communications from the base unit anywhere in my home from the basement to the second floor. The reception is crisp and unbroken.
